Alternative Veterinary Medicine Centre - Acupuncture

Dogs & Cats

Cats and Dogs make up the major part of our work on consulting days, at the premises

DOG ACUPUNCTURE - CAT ACUPUNCTURE

Cats and dogs are seen at the AVMC premises for acupuncture but we do also visit at home, on request (house calls / home visits).

Canine acupuncture, Feline acupuncture

Natural medicine, including vet acupuncture treatment, is usually enjoyed by cats and dogs, who respond well, by and large. Veterinary acupuncture has proved particularly useful for arthritis and lameness, back problems (including spondylosis and lumbosacral disease), prolapsed disc disease (IVDD [IVD], PID, intervertebral disc disease), degenerative disc disease, spinal injury, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, neck pain, back pain, paralysis and ophthalmia. While no promises of success can ever be made, results can often astound. Many animals defy a poor prognosis offered by conventional appraisal. Acupuncture vet treatment, whether by needling or LASER, is generally very well accepted by our patients.

Other conditions that show more variable response to acupuncture are: CDRM, Wobbler Syndrome (Spondylomyelopathy), Dry Eye (KCS), Canine Epilepsy.

Natural medicine stimulates the power of natural healing processes, so surprising results can and often do occur, even with very serious diseases.

Canine and Feline Diseases

They suffer many complex diseases, as do humans. They have Cancer, Allergies, Urticaria, Atopy, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Auto-Immune (Autoimmune) Disorders, Colitis, Eczema, Epilepsy, Arthritis, Back Problems, Back Pain, CDRM and many others. Is this because of diet or environment anomalies, shared with us or is it because of the energetic bond that unites us to our pets and them to us? It may be a combination of these things.

For further information, visit: www.alternativevet.org. This site describes the various alternatives (vet homeopathy, vet acupuncture, vet herbal medicine [herbs], chiropractic manipulation, natural feeding etc.), discusses many issues and explains the work of the AVMC in some detail.

Christopher Day, vet acupuncturist for over 28 years, has been involved in the academic side of the training of acupuncture vets (veterinary acupuncturists - vet acupuncturists).

All patients of the acupuncture vet have a chiropractic check, to ensure correct alignment of the axial skeletal system. This ensures maximum effectiveness of the acupuncture session. Dogs, cats and other pets really appear to enjoy their back and acupuncture treatments. However, in the rare cases in which they do not, we use LASER, which provides a painless delivery of acupuncture therapy. We do not use drug sedation to force compliance, which would mask and may even alter the body's natural responses, quite apart from the risk of side effects.
